Beginner Tips for Path of Exile

Are you bothered with how to play Path of Exile? Path of Exile is a tricky game to grasp when you’re first starting out. It has a very steep learning curve and no Tutorial to get you into the game. However that helps people like me, who write guides, to thrive on providing you information!

1) Movement Skills

For skills that you are using just for movement (e.g. Whirling Blades or Leap Slam), there’s no need to upgrade the skills. This preserves the low mana cost while the movement effect doesn’t change. Not only does this save on mana, but some of these are used with Blood Magic Support, which takes life instead of mana, so keeping the cost low is a good idea. A nice 4 link build that I use is: Whirling Blades – Faster Attacks Support – Fortify – Blood Magic. This allows me to zip around the place and also give me a defensive buff when I go through mobs.

2) Support Gem Levels

This one has caught me out a few times, some support skills, apart form having Str/Dex/Int/Level limits (Can be seen when you hover over the gem), will also have limits to the level of gems they can support e.g. I use Cast When Damage Taken Support and, currently, at level 6 I support a gem of max. level 48. What this means is that any gem that I want to work with that support has to have a level of 48 or lower, otherwise it won’t cast.

Yup, it can be extremely annoying to have the level up icon pulsing in the side of the screen, but believe me, it’s more annoying having to purchase and level another gem from scratch.

3) Leveling Extra Gems

This is a very simple one, yet is something I keep forgetting about. If you notice on your character sheet, you have the option of equipping a second set of weapons (Roman numerals I and II above your weapons slots). Gems in your secondary weapons will level up the same, even if they are not active weapons. This can be very useful when starting off as you may not have the required slots for some skills, but want to save time on leveling them later or for leveling gems to sell on trade.

4) Resistances

This mainly applies to part 2 of the game, but is good practice to get into.

In PoE, the max resistance that you can have for any type of elemental damage (Chaos orbs, Cold, Fire and Lightning) is 75% (there is such a thing as over-capping, but that usually only comes into play in mapping/end game, so will leave that for later).

These generally don’t matter too much in part 1 as your gear/passives will take care of them without you really having to worry about it. At the end of Act 5 you get a major debuff to resistances (-30% to all, and again at the end of Act 10 for a total of -60%). This might not seem like a big deal, but trust me, elements start to hit really hard and can provide a bit of a road block (especially when you take into account the 5% xp loss on death from Act 6 to Act 10 and 10% loss in maps).

5) White Gear to Look Out For

When I started, for the most part, I tended to turn my nose up at white gear until I started to get the hang of and understand the crafting system of PoE. You’d be surprised how easy it is (forgetting RNG for a moment) to craft a pretty decent item.

Again, this will be mainly towards later levels/end game while you are waiting for specific items to drop/appear on trade, but can be useful at the start to get into the habit of mentally filtering gear drops (yes, even after you have the filter turned on). The benefit of having white items is that they are blank slates and you can use the materials that you picked up along your adventures to upgrade them. Of course,If you are need to buy cheap Path of Exile currency, U4gm POE currency is a good choice.

Path of Exile Currency Guide

The word corruption doesn’t have a pleasant definition, except when you’re a Path of Exile (POE) player. For some strange or rather good reason, corruption in Wraeclast can be a good thing if done right. The question is, how do items in the game become corrupted? Simple: with Vaal Skill Gems, Vaal Orbs And Corrupted Modifiers.

So, right from the start, you may have run into one or two items with the word “Corrupted” in its description. You may be wondering what that means? Corrupted is simply a special modifier that can be applied to items and strongboxes. Any items, including skill gems, that are Corrupted may have unique, implicit modifiers that can’t be applied by other PoE currency , such as the Orb of Augmentation, the Orb of Transmutation or Chaos Orbs. Examples include leeching a percentage of elemental damage as life or increasing the level of equipped Vaal Skill gems by one or two. The downside to this interesting mod is that you cannot alter the item any further with any PoE , like Blacksmith’s Whetstones, Jeweler’s Orbs or even the legendary PoE Exalted Orbs. Basically, on items with the Corrupted mod in place, what you see is what you get, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re useless. If you have a Vaal Skill Gem on hand for instance, having an item that increases the level of that gem is extremely useful, given the way that these particular skill gems work.

Vaal Skill Gems?

Vaal Skill Gems are vastly superior versions of a few normal Skill Gems, such as Fireball or Detonate Dead. Unlike the normal skills, Vaal skills are much more powerful and can be devastating when used properly. Something this powerful, however, has a cost; in this case, you’ll need the souls of your slain enemies to use the skill. Each enemy you slay adds one soul to your skill counter and once you’ve collected enough souls, the gem will be charged with one use. It might seem lame that you only get one use, but these skills are so ridiculously powerful, sometimes one use is good enough.

You’re probably thinking, “Where can I find one of these?” There are many ways to find Vaal gems. An easy way to find one is by locating and entering a Corrupted Area. I found my first Vaal gem by entering one of these during my travels.

After I defeated Brutus, the Warden of the Prison in Act 1, I explored the Prisoner’s Gate area until I noticed something strange. My screen dimmed to a reddish colour and I saw bloody tendrils beckoning me to follow them. When I reached the source, I discovered that I stumbled upon a Corrupted Area.

Upon entering the map (here known as the Deadly Remote Gulch), I noticed the monsters dealt more damage, but yielded more rewards as a result of their defeat. Battling my way to the back of the area and defeating the boss (Sheaq, Maker of Floods), I discovered a Vaal Vessel. Breaking it open yielded my first Vaal Skill (Vaal Detonate Dead) and opened a portal to return back to the Prisoner’s Gate.

I’m not 100% sure what the chances of finding a Corrupted Area are, but you’re bound to run into one sooner than later. It’s well within your interest to find, enter and clear out these unique areas, since you’ll gain plenty of experience as well as a valuable Vaal gem for your trouble.

You may also find Vaal gems in Corrupted or Gemcutter’s Strongboxes as well as using a Vaal Orb. Speaking of Vaal Orbs…

Vaal Orbs – Risk vs. Reward

Vaal Orbs are a currency of uncommon rarity that can be dropped from monsters, chests, barrels and the like.
As the description notes, it adds the Corrupted modifier to the applied item, weapon or gem, but it also causes random side-effects – some benign, others not so much. For instance, applying a Vaal Orb to a piece of equipment can either result in it having one of the special Corrupted modifiers (life leech, +1 to Vaal Skill gem levels, etc.), reroll the item into a rare item with randomized sockets, links and affixes or it can simply have no change on the item, save for it being Corrupted and thus unable to be further modified. When used on gems, it may either increase or decrease levels or quality, transform the gem into its Vaal equivalent or again becoming corrupted with no further effects. Vaal Orbs work similarly to Orbs of Chance, with the biggest difference being that you can’t apply another Vaal Orb to modify the item further, as opposed to Orbs of Chance, which can be used over and over again until you get the result you desire. Regardless, it’s up to you, fellow Exiles, to determine if the risk is worth the reward!

Now, go forth and arm yourself with the power of corruption to survive Wraeclast! See you on the battlefield! If you want to know more about poe currency, please click https://www.gm2v.com/path-of-exile

I Would Buy MTX Appearances If They Weren’t so Expensive

I actually thought the harbinger armor looked more appealing than what i’ve seen in the past. But i’m going to buy more supporter packs. Even the $400+ ones.

MXTpurchase

I’ve bought lots of MTX items and i’m very satisfied, sometimes even if the items do not look on my character. I’m LOOKING AT YOU RADIANT PIECES! I just laugh that they look silly and know that i just supported GGG.

What if GGG did fund raisers to stay active and to pay employees? I’d probably donate to that because i love poe so much. Since they sell items, i’m doing my small part to support the best game i’ve played since Diablo 2 LOD AND i get cool skins.

By biggest argument for people who say they believe the MTX items are too expensive is to say please look at Path of Exile like your hobby. If you spent X amount of hours playing or thinking of PoE and it brings you some form of enjoyment, that is your hobby. Especially if you have spent 3 or 4 years playing!

Even spending thousand of dollars on MTX pales in comparison to hobbies my friends have. One guy I know has spend 10’s of thousand of dollars on recording equipment. He like to sing and release his stuff for free. Its fun for him . Another guy i know put things on his Suburu. He has also spent 10’s of thousands on things HE enjoys for him SELF.
When I buy MTX I do not care what other people think. I want to build upon my hobby for myself. I will spent over 10hours each league just building my hideout and if there were more MTX for decorations, i’d buy those too even if people never see them.I’m 21 and only make $12 an hour. I live alone. I pay my bills. I go to work. And I spend money on my hobby.

If PoE is your hobby don’t look at spending money as being ripped off. You are getting so much out of the game. If your argument is that it’s still too expensive, then you probably apply that to everything in your life.I could drive a Rolls Royce if they just lowered the cost. Ever seen a Corvette or Cobra Mustang sitting outside a trailer? Well sometimes even people with nothing save up for that one nice thing and do it because they love it so much. I love PoE.
